On 13 December 2024, a key agreement was signed, bringing Luxembourg closer to realising the ambitious project of the new Nei Hollerich district. Minister of Mobility and Public Works Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg Mayor Lydie Polfer and representatives of various public and private organisations sealed the agreement aimed at coordinating efforts to complete the design and start construction work.

Yuriko Backes emphasised that the new district will be an example of multi-format transport accessibility, including a tram line to Hollerich, a new railway station and an upgraded Hollerich Boulevard. She noted:

"The Nei Hollerich neighbourhood will offer a tranquil and functional environment for living and working thanks to its exceptional transport connectivity."

For her part, Mayor Lydie Polfer said the project is of welcome significance for the capital, combining elements of the industrial past with modern urban planning standards. The neighbourhood will include commercial areas, offices, restaurants, residential buildings and open spaces, including the future Heintz van Landewyck public park.

GIE Nei Hollerich, comprising Paul Wurth Real Estate and Landimmo Real Estate, together with the Compensation Fund, is responsible for the project. The neighbourhood is designed for 4,500 inhabitants and 5,000 jobs. Work has already begun: old buildings are being demolished, paving the way for the first wave of construction.

The project also includes the transformation of the former headquarters of Assurances Sociales, where both residential and commercial development is planned. The emphasis is on sustainability, innovation and a high quality of life, making Nei Hollerich a model for future urban solutions.
