The 97th annual Braderie fair has kicked off in Luxembourg

On Monday at nine o’clock in the morning, the 97th annual Braderie street fair officially began in Luxembourg. This year, the large-scale event offers visitors 192 market stalls, stretching in a continuous line for 4.5 kilometres between the Upper Town and the Gare district. Given the scale of the event, the organisers predict that around 150,000 people will visit the fair in search of bargains.

A significant change this year was the rescheduling of the event. Contrary to established tradition, the fair did not coincide with the Monday of the annual Schueberfouer festival, which took place on 31 August. As the organisers explained, holding the trade event in the last month of summer would have proved less effective, as a significant proportion of residents were still on holiday. The change of date is intended to ensure maximum visitor turnout.
