Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, explained how the system of reminders and recalculation of Chèque-service accueil (CSA) contracts, a childcare subsidy programme, works.

Two months before the contract expires, families receive an official reminder together with a monthly invoice. Additionally, local authorities and childcare centres may also send notifications, but this is not compulsory.

The Ministry of Education allows subsidies to be recalculated for up to three months after the end of the contract. This means that if parents have not renewed their CSA in time, they can recoup subsidies for services already paid for during this period.

This measure is aimed at preventing situations where, due to bureaucratic delays, families temporarily lose access to subsidies and have to pay the full cost of services.

Although the Chèque-service accueil system provides reminders, it does not guarantee that all parents will be notified on time. However, the three-month recalculation period reduces the risk of financial loss and makes the system more flexible.
