From 27 to 28 June 2026, under the patronage of Stefan Metzdorf, Head of the Trier-Saarburg district, Stefan Metzdorf, the first historic hill climb will take place between the municipalities of Fell and Thomm. The event organiser, Wolfgang Heinz, has announced that over 140 drivers have entered the race in formula cars, vintage racing cars and motorcycles with sidecars.
Over the weekend, more than 500 runs are scheduled over the 3.1-kilometre course. The format of the event completely rules out competitions for the best time or maximum speed — the main aim is to showcase historic vehicles, representing around 40 car and 10 motorbike makes. For spectators in the commune of Fell, a special raised grandstand has been set up directly at the starting line for the first time in the history of the local event, allowing them to watch the vehicles up close in complete safety. To manage the complex logistics, the organisers have set up two separate enclosed paddocks, whilst the Silvanussaal will host a themed exhibition of unique motorcycles from the 1930s.
As well as motor sports, the festival programme includes the Sparkasse Trier Berglauf charity fun run, organised with the support of the Hochwaldtrailer e.V. club. Participants will cover 3.5 kilometres along a unique race course with an elevation gain of 230 metres. All proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to social causes in the region, and the winners of the men’s and women’s categories will receive prize money of 100 euros.
On Sunday, the classic car races will be complemented by races featuring non-standard vehicles. During the breaks, pre-war cars, go-karts supported by the Kartsport Dischner team, and a Volvo lorry with around 900 horsepower will take to the track. According to the organisers, the high level of interest from participants and the support of local partners are laying the foundations for this event to become a long-term fixture on the motorsport calendar in Germany and the Benelux countries.
