On Tuesday, 14 January, the University of Luxembourg will take an important step in space exploration with the launch of the university's first satellite, POQUITO. The launch will take place from Vandenberg Base (California) on a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX. The expected launch time is between 19:49 and 20:46 Luxembourg time.

The POQUITO satellite is a miniaturised vehicle designed to demonstrate the capabilities of miniaturised technology in space. It is designed to:

  • testing innovative technologies in orbital conditions;
  • preparation for the university's future space projects;
  • providing practical experience for students and researchers.

This project is a milestone for the University of Luxembourg and opens new horizons for educational programmes and research missions.
