At its 76th session, held in Copenhagen from 27 to 29 October 2026, the WHO Regional Committee for Europe selected Luxembourg as the host country for WHO/Europe's future geographically dispersed office dedicated to artificial intelligence in health. The office will be based in Luxembourg and will report to the WHO Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen.
The aim of the future office is to help countries in the European Region to integrate safe, ethical and trustworthy artificial intelligence into their healthcare and public health systems. Particular attention is to be paid to those countries that are most lacking in their own capacity in this area.
According to the Ministry of Health and Social Security, cooperation with the WHO will enable Luxembourg’s hospitals, healthcare professionals and research organisations to exchange expertise, undertake training and participate in professional networks and scientific work.
