The number of people crossing the Luxembourg border by car every day is growing rapidly. This leads to congestion and forces many people to get up early in the morning to avoid traffic jams. In response, the Grand-Est region has launched a new bus route, the 57R600, which connects Forbach and Luxembourg. This pilot project will run for two years.

The route operates on weekdays, except on Luxembourg public holidays:

  • Morning flights from Forbach: 5:30 и 6:30
  • Evening flights from Hovald: 18:30 and 19:30

Importantly, the timetable can be adjusted according to passengers' wishes as part of the pilot period.

The organisers have provided buses with a high level of comfort:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • USB charging sockets
  • Air conditioner
  • Ergonomic chairs
  • Euro 6 environmentally friendly biofuels

This transport project aims not only to improve passenger comfort, but also to reduce the carbon footprint.

A single ticket costs €21, but discounts are available:

  • 20 euros with Fluo card
  • 10.5 euros for concessionary categories
  • 1 euro for passengers under 26 years of age

In addition, a promotional rate of €5 per ticket is available until 6 March 2025.

A month's subscription costs €238, making a daily trip much cheaper at €11.9 for five trips a week.

Although the price of a single ticket may seem high, a monthly subscription seems more favourable for regular passengers. There is also a possibility that employers will reimburse transport costs to their employees if the project shows successful results.

The 57R600 bus route is part of a comprehensive approach to improving transport infrastructure and combating traffic congestion. If the experiment is successful, it could become an example for other border regions that face similar problems.
