A new vehicle inspection centre has opened in the town of Wiltz, expanding the options available to motorists in the northern part of Luxembourg. The opening follows on from plans by the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, which announced back in 2018 that the previous vehicle inspection centre in Wilwerwiltz was due to close. Luerenzweiler Kontrollstatioun SARL (LU KS), which previously provided services exclusively in Lorentzweiler, has now officially opened its new site in Wiltz.

The opening of the new facility reflects structural changes in Luxembourg’s vehicle inspection system. Over the past few years, the conduct of compulsory roadworthiness tests has ceased to be the exclusive monopoly of the National Motor Transport Company (SNCA). The authorities have licensed private operators, including LU KS and DEKRA Automotive SARL, which has given car owners greater flexibility and freedom of choice when selecting service centres.
