Closed since 2019 after a serious fire, the Martyrs car park in Luxembourg will reopen its doors to drivers on 17 March 2025. The renovation has taken longer than planned: the launch was originally scheduled for 2024, but has now been pushed back to spring 2025.

At City Breakfast, Luxembourg Mayor Lydie Polfer revealed details of the revamped facility. Due to the increased size of the car parking spaces, the total number of spaces has been reduced from 447 to 361.

The car park will now include 12 spaces for electric cars, 12 for people with reduced mobility, nine designated spaces for women, and 32 cycle parking spaces.

The total reconstruction budget was €28.5m, €6m more than the original 2022 estimate.

The updated Martyrs car park will be more convenient and modern, adapting to the growing number of electric cars and cyclists in the city.
