Life-threatening driving: why Citroën owners are banned from getting behind the wheel

The Stellantis Group has extended the French safety campaign "Stop Drive" to Luxembourg in relation to Takata airbags, which can be lethal. The 351 Citroën C3 and DS3 vehicles in the country have been banned.
These vehicles are on the list of cars involved in the NQ3 recall campaign and have not yet undergone the mandatory replacement of the airbags. This is a continuation of the campaign launched in February 2025, when a total of 1,118 vehicles with potentially dangerous Takata airbags were identified. Stellantis and ILNAS (Institute for Normalisation and Quality Control of Luxembourg) are now introducing stricter measures, given the lack of response from owners.
Drivers and owners of vehicles on the list have been instructed to stop using the vehicle immediately. Within the next few days, owners will receive an official letter from ILNAS with instructions on how to proceed. Until the replacement is made, it is strictly prohibited to operate the vehicle.
A defect in Takata airbags, widely known in the automotive industry, is the potential for the gas generator to explode, which can cause metal fragments to be ejected into the passenger compartment upon deployment. Tens of millions of vehicles have been recalled worldwide due to this problem, and passenger fatalities have been documented.
Garages authorised by Stellantis will replace faulty equipment free of charge. ILNAS reminds you that neglecting this measure may endanger life - both driver and passengers.
Official VIN information will be available in the coming days on the ILNAS portal or from the network of authorised Stellantis partners in Luxembourg.
