The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is investigating possible fraud by transport companies operating RGTR bus lines. The suspicions relate to the misuse of European and national subsidies allocated exclusively for the operation of electric buses. According to reports, hybrid or even diesel vehicles were regularly used instead.
The investigation is at an early stage and final conclusions have not yet been reached. However, it is already clear that serious sums of public money are at stake and potential breaches of the environmental obligations set out in the terms and conditions of the funding.
The OGBL union, which reacted to the information, stressed that it could not comment on the guilt of either the companies themselves or the public transport administration until the investigation is complete. However, the organisation categorically insists: "Whichever party is found guilty must be severely punished. But under no circumstances should the consequences fall on the shoulders of the employees."
The OGBL recalls that in the past, employees have often been the victims of management decisions that had nothing to do with the violations. The union states that its priority is the absolute defence of staff interests, regardless of how the investigation ends.
