Night-time road closures will be introduced on the A7 motorway due to works in the Grouft Tunnel

Drivers who regularly use the A7 motorway should allow for possible changes to their route. The Luxembourg Bridges and Roads Administration has announced the start of work to replace the blades of the ventilation systems in the Grouft Tunnel.

Work will begin on Thursday, 18 June 2026, and forms part of a series of measures designed to ensure the safe operation of the tunnel. To minimise disruption to motorists, all work will be carried out exclusively at night. However, this will require the temporary closure of sections of the A7 between the Waldhof and Lorentzweiler junctions.

Road closures will be implemented alternately in the direction of Luxembourg and Merch, depending on the stage of the works. To maintain transport links during the period of restrictions, diversion routes will be put in place and will be indicated by road signs.

According to preliminary plans, the work is due to be completed by the start of the summer school holidays. The authorities note that the timetable may be adjusted depending on the progress of the project. Motorists are advised to check the latest information on road closures and traffic diversions in advance before travelling on the A7 at night.
