Repair works on the N5 motorway between Bascharage and Pétange from Monday, 17 November

Due to the major reconstruction of the junction connecting rue de la Reconnaissance nationale, route de Luxembourg, rue Jules Hemmer and rue des Ateliers, the national road N5 will be completely closed in both directions for a section of about 200 metres.

The timing of the works is from Monday, 17 November 2025, from 8:00am to Friday, 5 December, until 5:00pm. The closure will affect the area between Bascharage and Pétange.

The main objective of the project is to improve traffic safety at the congested intersection. For this purpose, a new traffic light control system will be installed, which should ensure a clearer distribution of traffic flows and reduce the number of accidents.

An officially designated diversions will be organised for the duration of the works to allow the closed section to be bypassed. A diagram of the diversion is provided in the appendix to the official notice published by the Administration of Bridges and Roads.

Drivers are advised to plan their route in advance and take into account possible delays on alternative routes.
