The Luxembourg authorities are continuing their drive to adapt public transport to the real needs of passengers. As part of the optimisation of the RGTR bus network, significant changes will take effect from Sunday, 18 May 2025, affecting around 60 regular routes.
These measures aim to improve service quality, reduce congestion on popular routes and improve connectivity in areas undergoing infrastructural change.
One of the key innovations is the expansion of supply on high congestion lines, particularly in the south and south-west of the country.
The addition of 11 extra flights on express and regular routes will provide more than 500 new boardings per day. This decision is aimed at coping with growing passenger traffic and improving comfort during peak hours.
In anticipation of the extension of tram line No. 1 on Konrad Adenauer Boulevard, the authorities have reorganised the bus service in the Kirchberg district.
17 routes will be changed and the Europe interchange (at Coque) will be removed from the service. Connections between lines will now be made at the new Luxexpo hub, which has better connectivity with the rest of the transport network.
This measure aims to prepare for future traffic flows, taking into account the development of the tram infrastructure and the need to redistribute the load.
Changes in the route network were also the result of suggestions from passengers themselves and from the municipal administrations. All the initiatives received were reviewed and those that are collectively beneficial were integrated into the final plan.
This underlines the orientation of the country's transport policy towards a two-way dialogue with users and adaptation to local needs.
