The National Roads Administration has announced the complete and permanent closure of the left-turn lane at the Lankelz junction. The new traffic scheme will come into force on 31 July at approximately 10.00 pm. These infrastructure changes will directly affect motorists travelling on the A4 motorway from the border town of Audun-le-Tiche and planning to join the A13 towards Pétange.

According to the relevant authority, the decision to remove the junction was driven by the need to improve road safety. The existing layout of the junction regularly gave rise to dangerous situations and road traffic accidents; as a result, the outdated layout was deemed unsuitable for further use.

Instead of their usual route, drivers heading for Pétange are required to use an alternative route. Traffic will be diverted to Exit 7, Raemerich, from the B40. The route will then follow the N37 to junction 4, Ehlerange, from where motorists will be able to join the A13 motorway. Permanent information signs will be installed along the entire diversion route to ensure clear navigation.
