According to an official press release from the National Roads Administration, a section of the N5 motorway will be completely closed to traffic in both directions. The restrictions will affect a 200-metre section of the road linking the towns of Bascharage and Pétange. Roadworks will begin on Wednesday 26 August at 07:00 and will continue until 20:00 on Friday 28 August.
However, the temporary closure is due to the comprehensive modernisation of a major transport hub. In particular, the road authorities will carry out a complete reconstruction of the junction, which connects several streets: Rue de la Reconnaissance Nationale, Route de Luxembourg, Rue Jules Hemmer and Rue des Ateliers.
Traffic lights will be installed at these junctions. As the relevant department emphasises, the measure is intended to radically improve the management of traffic flows and enhance overall safety. Throughout the entire period of the repair works, a specially organised and signposted diversion route will be in place for motorists.
