France cuts number of flights by the end of the week

The French are getting ready to strike again. The reason for the next national protest is the pension reform. The last demonstrations took place a few months ago, and now the reform is back on the agenda.

The transportation sector is expected to be the hardest hit by the strike, as it has been in the past. For this reason, the country’s civil aviation authority is calling on airports to reduce the number of flights. This recommendation has already been followed by major hubs. In Paris-Orly, for example, 40% of flights will be cancelled. The airlines also plan to reduce the number of flights by 20%.

In all probabilities, these measures will not be enough and the country will still be affected by disruptions in flight schedules. There is a possibility that ground transportation workers will join the airline industry, which could also affect cross-border workers from Luxembourg.

Residents of the Grand Duchy are advised to reschedule travel if possible and to check flight status with airlines in advance.
