The long awaited changes were announced recently. 6 French communes close to the border of the Grand Duchy have joined forces to create a public transport network that will be connected to Luxembourg. Sounds great, especially for the thousands of cross-border workers who commute daily to their offices in the country, but is it really all that smooth?

Of course it isn't. While the idea itself is long overdue, as traffic has increased tremendously in recent years and roads have not been upgraded or widened, it may not be so easy to implement.

At this stage, it is proposed to set up shuttles that will pick up people in 6 border regions and take them to the Mondorf checkpoint. Here they will cross the border on foot and transfer to Luxembourg public transport. The same will work in the opposite direction. It is not difficult to imagine that such a system will work during the peak hours in the morning and evening.

According to the assurances of the parties, in the future it is planned to extend the Luxembourg tram lines to the border with France, as well as to develop the transport system, which is not well developed at the moment.
