In the first quarter of this year alone, 452.6 million people visited the tourist sites of the European Union. Compared to the same period last year, Eurostat recorded an increase of 7%, which is quite a lot. The peak is in March. This is understandable because winter, even if mild, does not always motivate people to travel.

Luxembourg is the third most popular destination among EU countries. 82% of overnight stays were made by tourists from third countries. Only Malta (91%) and Cyprus (87%) have higher figures. On the other hand, Poland, Romania and Germany have the lowest figures (around 20%).

In addition to the high overall numbers, Luxembourg also boasts an increase in popularity. The number of overnight stays here grew by 21% over the year. The same figure applies to Malta, so it is no surprise that all these countries have made it to the top of the ranking. The leaders are Cyprus (+23%) and Croatia (+22%).
