Over the past 30 years, the average temperature in Europe have been rising twice as fast as in the rest of the world
Europe has now «achieved» the highest average temperature growth level across all the continents on Earth. The data was published in the first State of the Climate in Europe report with a focus on 2021. If the trend continues, experts say, fires, droughts, floods and other disasters will cause more and more tangible damage to the economy.
The report of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) was compiled by meteorological experts from European services with the support of the UN. Dr. Andrew Ferrone is among the coordinating authors. He is the head of the meteorology department of the Agricultural Technical Services Administration of Luxembourg.
