According to Eurostat, annual inflation in EU countries in 2021 was 2.9%, but in 2022 there was a sharp jump to 9.2%, which was a record for the last decades. In 2023, prices continued to rise, but the pace slowed to 6.4%, and in 2024 - to 2.6%.
At the same time, inflation remained well above average in a number of countries. In 2024, for example, prices rose by 5.8% in Romania, 4.3% in Belgium and 4.0% in Croatia. These figures show that despite the overall slowdown in inflation in the EU, the economic pressure on households in some countries remains palpable;
In Luxembourg, inflation was below the EU average at around 2.4% in 2024.
