Although the OGBL and LCGB were not formally involved in the negotiations on the so-called "Accord salarial" - the public sector wage agreement - it was their persistence and consistent pressure that were key factors in extending its coverage to POST Luxembourg workers. This decision was an important success in protecting the rights of public sector workers whose labour conditions had previously been outside the scope of such agreements.

From the outset, the OGBL and LCGB took a firm and unequivocal stand against any form of privatisation of POST Luxembourg. The unions have consistently questioned the economic and political decisions of the company's management and opposed not only direct attempts to alienate ownership, but also the covert curtailment of public services. This position remains unchanged - the defence of the public interest and public services is a cornerstone of the trade union strategy.

Against this background, the P&T syndicate, according to the OGBL and LCGB, has repeatedly demonstrated passivity and short-sightedness by ignoring real threats and allowing dangerous changes to take place. Instead of joining forces to counter these trends, the P&T syndicate, the statement said, prefers to engage in recriminations and divisions within the trade union movement.

The OGBL and LCGB emphasise that the interests of workers remain at the heart of their struggle. This applies not only to fair pay, but also to broader issues ranging from working conditions to protection against the commercialisation of public services. Attempts to discredit each other only distract from the main objective of improving the situation of workers.

The unions say that POST Luxembourg employees deserve strong, consistent and reliable union representation. And that is exactly the role they continue to fulfil - with respect, responsibility and determination to stand up for a fair future for all workers at the company.
