Four restaurants from Luxembourg have secured places in the prestigious La Liste ranking, which analyses 35,000 establishments in 200 countries. Topping the Luxembourg entries is Ma Langue Sourit (Moutfort) by chef Cyril Molarв, which received 91 per cent. It is the country's only restaurant with two Michelin stars and a high Gault&Millau rating (18.5/20).

La Distillerie (Burglinster), specialising in plant-based cuisine under the direction of René Mathieu (83.50%), Léa Linster (Friesange), run by Louis Linster, and Mosconi (Luxembourg), known for Italian cuisine, come next.

The La Liste rating is headed by several world stars at once. French chef Guy Savoie, who works at the Paris Mint, became the world's best for the eighth time in a row, scoring 99.5 per cent. Cheval Blanc from Switzerland and Arnaud Donckel's La Vague d'Or were also among the leaders.

Special attention in the rating is paid to Asia. The leader of the list is the Lung King Heen restaurant from Hong Kong. Japan is the most represented country in the top 1000 (126 restaurants), followed by the USA (114) and France (111). South Korea shows notable progress: two Korean restaurants, La Yeon and Mingles, reached eighth place.

Philippe Fauré, founder of La Liste, notes the trend towards pleasure-oriented gastronomy. French cuisine remains an icon, but its "excesses", in his opinion, alienate part of the audience.

A special trend has become the "Show to table" format, which combines cookery with entertainment elements. This year, five restaurants from Dubai, Madrid, Melbourne, Paris and Tokyo received a special prize for this concept.
