The festive season in Luxembourg does not end immediately after Christmas. Winterlights fairs continue on the streets of the capital, and Winter Moments in neighbouring Mamer. For many, it's a chance to hold on to a holiday spirit that usually disappears too quickly from the calendar. Our colleagues at L'Essentiel spoke to visitors to the country's entertainment venues. As Sandra and Melissa note: "After Christmas, it's much quieter, there are fewer crowds, and it allows you to enjoy the atmosphere to the fullest."

For Zaki, who travelled with his family from France, Christmas fairs are a way to keep the festive spirit alive: "January is usually boring, and the fair allows us to prolong the holiday spirit". A similar sentiment is shared by local traders. Reginald, who runs a stall on Place d'Armes, said that his business is doing well even after Christmas, except on Sundays: "Maybe the cold has put people off.

The closing of the Winterkids programme was the final chord for the youngest ones. Under the circus dome, the children enjoyed the jugglers' performances and the parents commented on the unique atmosphere of these events. As Joseph, the father of two young children, said: "This is the third time we have come here. It's a special time and it's important to have time to enjoy it".

Traders and visitors agree on one thing: the winter fairs that continue after Christmas make January less gloomy. They create a space to meet friends, enjoy hot wine and bright lights that give cosiness even on the coldest days of the year.
