On Monday, 19 May 2025, the written examinations for graduates of classical and general secondary education will start all over the country. This final session draws a line under the years of study at the lycée and determines the next step - be it university or a professional path.

This year, 3,778 students are allowed to sit for the exams, including:

  • 2,145 girls (56.8 per cent)
  • 1 633 young men (43.2%)

Out of the total number of graduates:

  • 1,650 people (934 girls and 716 boys) are taking the classical examinations, which are academically orientated;
  • 2,128 persons (1,211 girls and 917 boys) took general examinations, more often oriented towards practical application of knowledge and preparation for the labour market.

Of particular note is the group of 36 candidates (22 females and 14 males) who studied in the evening - this demonstrates the flexibility of the Diploma to combine study with other life circumstances.

The examinations involved 1,588 members of examination commissions, distributed among 255 commissions, covering all forms of assessment - written, oral and practical.

This scale of organised work confirms the seriousness of the national examination system, as well as the high standards required of graduates.

Minister of National Education, Childhood and Youth, Claude Meisch, sent words of encouragement to the students: "I wish all candidates success in these examinations, which complete their school journey and open the way to higher education or professional life."
