Bichermaart has been running yearly since 1991. The fair accepts books preserved enough to be sold. If the condition is not perfect, but the book is valuable, fair workers can restore it.
The proceeds from the sale of books are spent on good causes. Mostly they ease the fight against various diseases: strokes, Alzheimer’s and others. Scholarships and scientific research are also funded by the fair. The main principle is to leave large projects to the state and fund smaller goals with tangible achievable results.
