On Friday morning, the authorities confirmed the continuation of the "orange" warning level for the northern parts of Luxembourg and the Moselle region. The main reason is the risk of rivers overflowing their banks.

According to the Flood Forecasting Service:

  • In Bollendorf, the peak level has been passed and the situation will start to stabilise by mid-day.
  • In Dikirch, the maximum level will remain until the afternoon.
  • On the Mosel, especially in the Stadtbridimus and Remich, water levels will reach the 630 cm and 530 cm mark respectively by Friday night. These levels will continue until Saturday evening, after which a significant decrease is expected.

The southern parts of the country, including Ettelbrück on the Alzette River, are already seeing a drop in water levels. With no new rain forecast, the situation in the south will continue to improve.

Authorities continue to closely monitor water levels, urging coastal residents to exercise caution and refrain from visiting areas at risk of flooding. Despite the difficult situation in the North and Moselle, the overall situation is showing an improving trend.
