A 27-year-old worker fell from the roof of a building at a construction site in Berbourg at around 13:50 on Monday. According to police, the man suffered serious injuries that required immediate hospitalisation. Despite receiving first aid and being taken to hospital, the victim died of his injuries in the evening of the same day.

Officers from the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (Inspection du Travail et des Mines, ITM) and the criminal police (Service de Police Judiciaire, SPJ) worked at the scene to establish the causes of the incident and whether safety rules had been followed.

It is not yet known whether the man was insured, whether he was working from an authorised height at the time and whether he was wearing personal protective equipment. Such cases often raise the issue of compliance with health and safety standards, especially on construction sites where risks are high and monitoring of working conditions is not always sufficient.

This accident is yet another reminder that there are concrete lives behind the statistics of occupational injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and its outcome will be important not only for establishing responsibility, but also for preventing similar tragedies in the future.
