Luxembourg law enforcement authorities continue international cooperation to fight crime. A suspect linked to the explosion of an ATM in Esch-sur-Sûre in March 2022 was recently extradited to the country. According to police, he was apprehended in Italy thanks to the co-ordinated work of Luxembourg and foreign security services. Last Thursday, he was handed over to the authorities of the Grand Duchy.
In parallel, police officers detained a suspected drug trafficker on a train travelling to France. A joint operation with French colleagues led to the discovery of 43 cocaine capsules, a mobile phone and cash in his possession.
After the arrest, the man was handed over to the prosecutor's office and sent to an isolation centre where he underwent a body scan. The results were positive. He is now in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
