The B49 federal road, leading towards Germany, has been closed to traffic. The closure was caused by pieces of concrete falling from a railway bridge crossing the road in the village of Wasserbilligerbrück, near the national border.

Rail services on the section between the municipality of Wasserbillig and the city of Trier have been temporarily suspended. Around midday, the national railway company CFL announced that services on the line had resumed, but warned passengers of possible further delays and partial cancellations. Meanwhile, the section of the B49 road between Wasserbillig and the municipality of Igel remains closed to traffic.

According to the German newspaper *Trierer Volksfreund*, which cites a spokesperson for the local police, two or three concrete fragments fell from the bridge structure this morning. Specialists from the German operator Deutsche Bahn are currently carrying out a detailed inspection of the structure to assess the extent of the damage and ensure the safety of the infrastructure’s continued operation.
