Luxembourg has experienced a series of ATM robberies in recent years. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 15 attacks have been recorded since 2020, with 3 cases already occurring in 2025 - in Oberpallen, Reisdorf and Saeul.

MP Sven Clement (Pirate Party) raised the issue in parliament, demanding explanations from Interior Minister Léon Gloden, Finance Minister Gilles Roth and Justice Minister Elisabeth Margue.

According to official data, the highest number of attacks was recorded in 2020, when criminals attacked 6 ATMs in Beaufort, Weiswampach, Grevenmacher, Wormeldange and twice in Pommerlach. The number of attacks decreased in the following years, but in 2025 there were more attacks than in the whole of 2024.

Since 2020, the police have identified 12 perpetrators, some of whom have already been convicted and are serving their sentences abroad thanks to co-operation with international intelligence agencies and Europol. One of the perpetrators involved in the Esch-sur-Sûre attack will soon be extradited to Luxembourg.

Luxembourg police continue to work closely with neighbouring countries and international organisations to prevent further attacks. The authorities do not rule out tightening security measures to protect ATMs.
