On 26 February 2024, the European Convention Centre Luxembourg (ECCL) hosted the first "Jobday Agriculture", organised by the Employment Development Agency (ADEM) in partnership with the Luxembourg Chamber of Agriculture. This unique event brought together 15 agricultural and wine companies actively seeking new talent in the emerging agricultural sector.

The aim of Jobday Agriculture was to bring job seekers and employers closer together in the agricultural sector, which offers many job opportunities. The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, Martine Hansen, and the Minister of Labour, Georges Mischo. They supported the initiative, emphasising the importance of agriculture for the Luxembourg economy and the prospects for sustainable development in this sector.

Georges Michaud said: "This Jobday Agriculture perfectly illustrates our commitment to bringing jobseekers and employers closer together and to supporting an agricultural sector that offers diverse and sustainable career opportunities. We are proud to support this initiative, which benefits both employers and employees."

480 job seekers selected by ADEM met with employers looking for professionals in a wide range of occupations including:

  • Agricultural labourers
  • Konyukhov
  • Farm labourers
  • Harvesters
  • Fence builders
  • Mechanics
  • Workers in the wine industry

The event was also open to anyone interested in working in the agricultural sector. Participants had a unique opportunity to communicate directly with employers, learn about job requirements and discuss career prospects.

The first job fair in the agricultural sector was an important step in finding talent and meeting labour needs in Luxembourg's agricultural sector. It not only promotes employment, but also popularises professions in the agricultural sector, helping to eliminate stereotypes about working in agriculture.

Luxembourg's agro-industrial sector is actively developing through innovation and sustainable production. With the growing demand for organic products and the need to adapt to climate change, attracting new talent is becoming a strategic challenge.

"Jobday Agriculture showcases a new approach to recruitment in the agricultural industry and strengthens the links between employers and job seekers, creating a platform to share experiences and find innovative solutions."
