Amnesty International to host torchlight procession in Luxembourg

The Luxembourg branch of the human rights organization Amnesty International has announced an annual torchlight procession in defense of human rights. The event will take place on International Human Rights Day: Saturday, December 10. The procession will begin at 17:30 at the Place d’Armes in Luxembourg.

According to the organizers, the idea of the march is a demonstration of solidarity with those whose lives and dignity are under threat. This year, Amnesty International is dedicating an event to ten people and organizations involved in the Write for Rights campaign. You can support them by writing a letter right after the procession. The evening of letter writing will start at 19:00 at the Forum Geesseknäppchen at 40 Bd Pierre Dupong, 1430 Luxembourg. A special bus will go there from Place d’Armes.

Both the procession and the evening of letter writings are part of the Human Rights Festival, organized by ACAT with the support of several Luxembourgish civil society organizations. This year the festival takes place from 9 to 18 December.
