Housing for refugees still scarce
Housing for refugees still scarce
Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn has said in July that accommodation sites for refugees in the Grand Duchy were 95% full.
The issue is still unresolved. Despite the fact that, according to the LUkraine NGO, 5% to 10% of Ukrainian refugees have already returned to their homeland, municipal housing remains almost completely occupied.
As a part of a government initiative, the former Luxemburger Wort building and one facility in Weilerbach will open to provide additional space for refugees. It’s proposed to place 600 more beds in the former European Court of Justice building by the end of the year. This goal is quite realistic and must be achieved. However, the lack of building materials greatly complicates the process.
