Major roadworks in Esch-sur-Alzette
The Grande-Duchesse-Charlotte boulevard will be closed for 14 months. There's a huge amount of work to be done on this section of the road. The widening, new markings, repair works, and landscape improvement will take a little more than a year.
During the widening of the roadway, trees, and hedges on the south side of the busiest traffic route in the city will have to go. The greenery will all be moved to other locations in Esch.
The upgraded highway will open up access to the new supermarket and greatly reduce traffic load in the area. However, in order to fully implement the project, the government will have to move the underground utilities as well. So the area between Avenue de la Paix and Rue Mondercange will be temporarily limited to traffic.
