Meal vouchers in Belgium and Luxembourg usable through app
Payconiq, which is building a mobile payment platform in Belgium and Luxembourg, is integrating meal vouchers into its app. First, the innovation will appear in the neighbouring country, and then in the Grand Duchy.
Meal vouchers are used by many employers to provide their employees with affordable meals throughout the day. They are especially used by cross-border workers. With such a coupon you can buy lunch at a restaurant or food at a store. Sometimes they are spent in less obvious ways, such as buying gasoline.
Previously, vouchers were made of paper. Later, for convenience, they were replaced with a special credit card, for the employer to deposit a certain amount of money every month. Now it will be enough to use the Payconiq app. The company that created the application has already made an agreement with the largest voucher producers — Sodexo, Edenred and Monizze.
More than two million people use meal vouchers in Belgium. In Luxembourg, Payconiq hopes to find a smaller but sufficient audience. The application already has 150,000 users in the country. It processes 600,000 transactions per month.
