The swimming season is about to begin in Luxembourg

From 1 May to 30 September, swimming in open waters is officially permitted in Luxembourg, marking the start of the summer leisure season across the country. Residents and tourists will have access to beaches on the lakes of Haute Sûre, Weiswampach and Echternach, as well as at the Baggerweieren ponds in Remerschen.
The Water Management Authority (AGE) has undertaken to regularly monitor and analyse water quality at all the sites listed throughout the season. Based on assessments carried out by the authority at the end of last year, most popular locations retain a high safety rating. In particular, the lakes Haute Sûre, Weisswamph (zones 1–4) and Baggerwieren in Remeshen were rated ‘excellent’. Meanwhile, the swimming area on Lake Echternham was classified as ‘good’, which also allows for its safe use.
However, to obtain the most up-to-date information on the condition of specific coastal areas, holidaymakers are advised to consult the specialist website of the Water Resources Authority (AGE). The agency updates data on bacterial levels and water suitability for human contact in real time, thereby helping to minimise health risks during periods of high temperatures.
