The wolves are back in Luxembourg. Now from the east

There have been two reports of wolves in the east of the country in the last two weeks. The first was a video recording in the Echternach area and the second was an image from a camera trap near Beaufort Castle.

The species of the animal in the photo and the recording was confirmed by international experts. There was no doubt — it was a wolf. The presence of a predator in the country was recorded for the 4th time last year. Unfortunately, it is impossible to say whether these animals are the same or different. There is no genetic material to analyze.

The government will now conduct an information campaign in the communities bordering the areas where the wolf has appeared, as it is supposed to do. Unlike in the past, no damage to farms has been reported so far.

People should still be careful when walking in the forest. Yes, wolves are unlikely to seek you out, but you should always be on the lookout for wild animals.
