For the first time in Luxembourg's modern history, the incumbent prime minister is outside the country's top ten most popular politicians. According to the latest Politmonitor poll by the Ilres Institute for RTL and Luxemburger Wort, Luc Frieden, who took over as head of government less than a year ago, ranks only 12th with 52% positive feedback, losing 3 percentage points from the previous survey. Meanwhile, voters consider him more competent (60%) than likeable (43%) - a gap that may explain his drop in the ratings.

Meanwhile, his predecessor and current Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel (DP) continues to lead the list with an impressive 80% approval. He has not only maintained his lead, but also strengthened his position by gaining another point. Bettel, a figure with an almost symbolic status in Luxembourg politics, remains visible and popular even after stepping down as head of government.

In second place is former deputy prime minister and health minister Paulette Lenert (LSAP) with 75%. In third place is the Socialist Mars Di Bartolomeo, also a former health minister, with 65%.

The top 10 is dominated by liberals and socialists. The fourth, fifth and sixth places are occupied by representatives of the Democratic Party (DP): Mayor  of Luxembourg Lydie Polfer (63%), Minister of Mobility and Defence Yuriko Backes (62%, up 9 positions at once) and Minister of Economy Lex Delles (62%).

Frieden's CSV party is represented in the top ten only by Claude Wiseler (61%) and Martine Hansen (60%). In addition, the Minister of Justice and the Environment Sam Tanson (Déi Gréng, 57%) and the Socialist Taina Bofferding (57%) are also on the list.

Thus, Frieden himself was the only politician from his party to lose popularity despite holding the highest office.

The rating of the government itself also shows a worrying trend: only 48% of respondents approve of its work - one point less than in June. At the same time, 33% assess the work of the cabinet as "rather bad", which is 4 points more than in the previous poll. This may indicate the growing scepticism of citizens, especially against the background of the first months of the new cabinet.
