January 2025 marks the beginning of the Christmas tree picking season. However, it is important to follow a few rules to make the process smooth and environmentally friendly.

Clean Christmas trees without decorations or paint will be collected separately for composting. If your Christmas tree is coloured or has ornaments on it, it will be disposed of with the normal mixed municipal waste. For convenience, Christmas trees over two metres tall should be cut in half.

To collect Christmas trees, simply place them on the pavement in front of your house before 6:00 on the day when mixed waste is usually collected. If you do not have time on that day, collection can take place the next day. You can check the current schedule at the official website. Just type in your address and see the schedule.

If you want to dispose of your Christmas tree yourself, you can take it to the Resource Centre on Rue du Stade. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 19:30 and Saturday from 8:30 to 18:00. Don't forget that the last opportunity to enter is 15 minutes before closing time.

Sorting Christmas trees minimises the amount of waste going to landfills and makes efficient use of natural resources through composting. This environmentally friendly approach is a step towards more responsible waste management after the festive season.
