The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers took place yesterday in Zurich. The Luxembourg national team, known as Rout Léiwen, recognised their opponents.
Rivals of Luxembourg
- Winner of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final between Germany and Italy (to be decided in March 2025).
- Slovakia
- Northern Ireland.
Match schedule
- The qualification phase will commence in September 2025 and conclude in November 2025.
- The first matches involving Luxembourg will be known after the results of the Nations League.
Participation in such groups is a challenge for Luxembourg, but the success of the national team in recent years gives hope for a decent performance. The national team is currently ranked 85th in the FIFA rankings, but has every chance to climb higher.
