Luxembourg's parliament has published 13 new petitions that citizens can sign to be considered by MPs. Among the initiatives are proposals to reform fines, change medical legislation, and revise the Sunday shop policy.

One of the topics discussed was the requirement to introduce a system of fines based on income, as in Finland and Sweden. This would mean that high-income offenders would pay more and the fine would have the same impact on all categories of citizens. Another petition concerns the digitalisation of public services - the authors express concern that the transition to LuxTrust Mobile makes access to public services more difficult for a part of the population that prefers traditional methods of interaction with the state.

The topic of a referendum on the operation of shops on Sundays remains no less urgent. The signatories of this petition believe that the issue should be decided in a general vote and not be imposed from above. There is also discussion about a new medical cannabis law. Citizens are demanding that patients be allowed to choose between flower buds and oil extracts, rather than being limited to oils only.

Another proposal is to extend the yellow signal of traffic lights to reduce the number of fines recorded by cameras for running a red light. Some drivers feel that the current short phase of the yellow light does not leave them time to stop safely.
