The Municipal Council and the Ministry of Mobility have presented a comprehensive plan to modernise the main road in Junglinster, officially known as the CR121A. According to Mayor Ben Ries, the project will not be limited to laying new road surfacing. On the contrary, the approved initiative involves a complete rethinking and redesign of the public space along the entire route.
As part of the planned works, a significant portion of the familiar streetscape will be replaced by green spaces, whilst pedestrians and cyclists will benefit from wider and safer paths. Yuriko Backes, Minister for Mobility, noted that the project not only establishes a new transport concept but also aligns with the municipality’s global environmental goals for sustainable development.
However, local residents will have to wait before the revamped city centre takes on its final form. Construction work on the 2.2-kilometre stretch will begin in October and continue uninterrupted for three years. The total budget for the infrastructure plan is 19 million euros.
