Due to structural damage detected on the Schengen Viaduct (OA 1217), the German motorway operator Autobahn GmbH is forced to reduce the number of lanes from two to one in each direction. The restrictions will take effect from Monday 28 July 2025 (towards Luxembourg) and Tuesday 29 July (towards Germany). They will last until the technical problems are fully resolved.
In addition, the left lane of the Markusberg tunnel towards Germany will be closed from 29 July. The measure is aimed at preventing congestion inside the tunnel: in the event of a fire or other emergency, this will ensure that emergency services can get through and evacuate quickly.
The speed limits will remain the same: 70 km/h in the direction of Germany, 90 km/h in the opposite direction. The party responsible for the work is Autobahn GmbH and all questions regarding the repairs should be addressed directly to them.
