The 2025 sales will last longer
We have a lot of sales to look forward to in 2025, both in Luxembourg itself and in the Benelux and Greater Region. Let us tell you about the times, dates and interesting facts.
Luxembourg sales
The summer sales in Luxembourg will last longer next year: the government has approved the dates and extended the duration by several days. The discount season will start on Friday, June 27 and end on Saturday, July 26. This year's summer sales started on June 24 and ended on July 20, so shoppers in 2025 will have a little more time to shop for bargains. The 2025 Winter Sales have also been scheduled.
Discount Season | Start | End |
Winter sale | January 2, 2025 | January 25, 2025 |
Summer sale | June 27, 2025 | July 26, 2025 |
These sales periods are subject to strict rules that require items to be sold at reduced prices in regular retail stores. Prices must be clearly marked and reduced from regular prices.
Merchants are allowed to advertise upcoming sales, but the use of the words sale or soldes outside of the official period is prohibited. The warranty for goods sold during the discount period remains the same - 2 years, if the goods were not defective at the time of purchase. Return or exchange of the goods is possible in case of a defect, if the defect was not previously agreed with the buyer. Otherwise, the seller has the right to refuse the return or exchange
Great Region Sales
The rules governing sales vary widely across Europe. In countries such as Luxembourg, France and Belgium, the government sets specific time limits for sales. The Netherlands and Germany have no such restrictions. There is also a requirement for retailers to confirm that previous prices have been in effect for a certain period of time before offering discounts. This does not apply in all countries, but in most.
Country | Winter sale | Summer sale |
Belgium | January 3 - 31, 2025 | July 1 - 31, 2025 |
France | January 8 - February 11, 2025 | July 2 - 29, 2025 |
Sales in Germany and the Netherlands do not have fixed dates. They usually start at the end of December and last until the end of January, while the summer sales run from July to August. You can also take advantage of discounts throughout the year.
Christmas sales
As for Christmas discounts, as well as events like Black Friday, which takes place on November 29, 2024, it's up to the companies to make all the decisions. These events are not regulated by the government, but consumer protection laws still apply. Still, it's a great way to prepare for the upcoming gift-giving and holiday season without breaking your budget.
If you don't want to wait for the sales season, you can shop for bargains at Luxembourg's outlet stores. We told you more about them in one of our previous news.
