So far, the WHO statement only refers to long-distance flights. During that time, the Health Organization recommends passengers use their safety masks. The idea emerged in light of new outbreaks of COVID-19 in China and the United States.
WHO also calls on the European Union countries to strengthen surveillance of the virus spreading. It is assumed that monitoring data will be passed on regularly to analyze and identify tendencies.
The same is demanded from China, which just recently opened its borders and lifted almost all restrictions. The number of infections has skyrocketed dramatically since then. However, China might be misreading the COVID mortality rate, which is why the case numbers seem to be unrealistically low. Some researchers also believe that the Chinese are artificially lowering the numbers by underreporting.
