There will be no new reactor in Cattenom for now

On November 2, the French government released a document containing a list of sites where new nuclear reactors will be located by 2035-2037. Cattenom NPP is not among them. Earlier this year the inappropriate condition of some components of the station was called into question several times.

Back in February, Emmanuel Macron announced that France plans to build 6 new generation reactors. The first of these should be ready by 2035. The bill, which will be submitted to the Senate this week, does not include the Cattenom nuclear power plant. In addition, it became known that future reactors will be located on existing sites. This will help reduce construction costs and time.
