An 8 hectare business incubator has opened in Luxembourg
On 3 December 2024, the Automobility Incubator, designed to support start-ups, PMEs and international companies in the smart mobility sector, was inaugurated in Bissen. The event was attended by Luxembourg's Minister of Economy Lex Delles, the Mayor of Bissen David Viaggi and Technoport CEO Diego De Biasio.
The incubator has become part of the AutoMobility Campus, which is positioned as Europe's leading automotive technology centre. With an area of 14 hectares, the campus can accommodate more than 4,000 people and offers 8 hectares for companies involved in innovation. The incubator itself occupies a 2,100 m² building with offices, conference rooms and 400 m² of R&D labs. It is also equipped with a multifunctional area for exhibitions and events.
Construction of the incubator began in December 2022 and was completed in November 2024 using circular economy principles. The first residents will join in the first half of 2025.
Technoport, the main incubator operator, has been actively promoting the launch and development of start-ups in Luxembourg for 26 years. It provides participants with access to professional networks, technical infrastructure and support services. Thanks to the collaboration with the University of Luxembourg and LIST, the campus will also become a platform for education and research, attracting young professionals and scientists.
The opening was attended by representatives of Goodyear, which plans to move some of its teams to the campus. Xavier Fraipon, Vice President of the company, noted that the incubator will become a platform for interaction with innovative companies and startups.
The AutoMobility campus and the new incubator contribute to the development of the mobility and innovation ecosystem in Luxembourg. The project is supported by the national innovation agency Luxinnovation, which organises events and promotes collaborations between companies.
The Mayor of Bissen, David Viaggi, emphasised that this project reflects the spirit of the community: "Bissen will be the starting point for future successes". Lex Delles added that the project fulfils the government's strategic objectives to develop sustainable and smart mobility.
