A large-scale staff strike at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg), organised by the ver.di trade union, has brought air traffic to the German capital to a standstill this coming Wednesday. The industrial dispute, which arose during negotiations over pay rises, has led to the cancellation of 445 take-offs and landings. According to airport management estimates, the disruption will affect around 57,000 passengers.

The strike has had a direct impact on the schedule of Luxembourg’s national carrier. Luxair has officially confirmed the cancellation of all four scheduled flights between Findel Airport and Berlin:

  • The morning flight LG9471 (departing at 06:20) and the evening flight LG4973 (departing at 19:00) from Luxembourg have been cancelled.
  • Return flights LG9472 and LG9474 from Berlin, which were due to land in the Grand Duchy at 10:10 and 22:45 respectively, have been cancelled.

Luxair representatives have stated that they are closely monitoring the situation and taking all possible measures to minimise disruption. The company will contact all passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted directly to offer alternative flight options. According to the airport’s current schedule, no other flights to Berlin are scheduled for today, making it impossible to quickly rebook passengers onto other flights within the same route.
