On 14 February 2025, OGBL (Onofhängegege Gewerkschaftsbond Lëtzebuerg) and Aldi Luxembourg signed a first collective agreement (CCT) covering all employees of the company. This agreement was the result of the social elections in March 2024, in which OGBL received all mandates as part of the employee delegation. After several months of negotiation and consultation with staff, significant improvements in working conditions were achieved.
The new collective agreement includes a new salary system, a year-end bonus and food vouchers worth €9.50 per day. Various additional bonuses are also provided, including an OPU bonus, fixed bonuses for assistants and key hours bonuses.
Employees with 10, 20 and 30 years of service will receive a special long-service bonus, as well as additional days of leave - from 2 to 9 days depending on the length of service. Employees will also receive gift vouchers at the end of the year.
The agreement provides for an overtime allowance of 50% (instead of the statutory 40%). The premium for Sunday work is 80 per cent for the first 18 months of the agreement, increasing to 90 per cent thereafter.
In addition, Sunday work in excess of 4 hours is only possible with the employee's consent, which protects the right to rest and personal time. Each employee is guaranteed 10 full days off per year, which promotes work-life balance.
The signing of the first collective agreement at Aldi Luxembourg highlights the importance of social dialogue and the role of trade unions in improving working conditions. The OGBL recognised the exemplary contribution of the employee delegation, which was a key factor in reaching this historic agreement.
